The Dumar district has perfected a device to supposedly help elves get things done. Many hands make light work so to speak. These automatons are supposedly controlled by the owner who merely has to have a communications device implanted into their hand. Unaware to most however, lies the overarching control network built into the automaton system. After all, if the machines go off grid someone has to bring them back inline. Malanar has his evil plot working behind the scenes in the control network.
Who is enabling Malnar's control with technology? An elf trained in the human mechanical arts, or a human seeking to bring down the elven dynasty… hmm…
So how does a civilization that lives in trees and elaborate tree houses have controllable machines? Well, especially for the Dumar and Shandaria nation states, not all are satisfied with the simple, down to “earth” lifestyle. Many embrace this time saving, manual labor device. They don’t see the danger it poses. For the rest, who also are more spiritually based for some reason, remain satisfied with the simple pleasures of life and refuse to be sucked into the promises made by those with the gift of persuasion. Oh, by the way, the automatons can record and report on audio conversations of their “owners.” This is how Malanar seems to have great knowledge of future events.
